Clarinet Concerto (Mozart)

Posted on April 11, 2015March 11, 2022 By Massimo Pennesi

W. A. Mozart (1756-1791): Clarinet Concerto in A major, K. 622.
Second movement: Adagio

Composed in 1791, the last year of Mozart’s life, this work was premiered less then two months before the composer’s death and published posthumously.
The main theme of the second movement, Adagio, is characterized by an intensely expressive and intimate melody. It is included in the soundtrack of the movie Out of Africa, which has contributed to its popularity.

Transcription for recorder and piano by Massimo Pennesi.
