The Magic Flute II

Posted on January 27, 2014July 3, 2015 By Massimo Pennesi

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791): Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen wünscht Papageno sich! (from The Magic Flute).

Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen wünscht Papageno sich! (A girl or a damsel’s what Papageno wants) is one of the most famous arias from The Magic Flute.

Among the instruments that accompany Papageno’s voice, there is a keyboard glockenspiel, a disused instrument, nowadays often replaced by a celesta.

Transcription for recorder and piano by Massimo Pennesi. This interactive score was published first in the post La flauta mágica II, in the blog educacionmusical.es.

Milos Forman: Amadeus (1984)

Footage from the movie Amadeus in which Emanuel Schikaneder, librettist of The Magic Flute and first interpreter of Papageno’s character, sings Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen wünscht Papageno sich!.
